It has probably the earliest vestbule in Shropshire. It led into a top-lit staircase hall of some splendour. According to the the then owner's nephew, the house was remodelled some time after 1806 by John Nash. When refurbished, the entrance front of what had been a more or less square house was left short, while the side elevation was extended by over half as much again of its original length and was provided with a long portico of Ionic columns.
