Possible ring motte <1b-c>

A probable IA homestead situated at the head of a valley with good views to the S, but below the ridge to the north. It comprises a bank and outer ditch measuring 50.0m overall externally, and 25.0m internally. The turf-covered bank has a maximum height of 1.4m above the shallow enclosing ditch and 0.7m above the interior, and western half of which is raised slightly above the surrounding ground. The small earthwork enclosure described by the previous authorities [<1a - 1e>] was seen centred at SO 2900 7854 and mapped from aerial photographs. <15>

Possibly a ringwork. <16>
