Summary
Two railway cottages were built in about 1882 on the west side of Wessex Lane, when Swaythling Railway Station was built immediately to the south. The southern two cottages were demolished in the 1960s and the site has now been rebuilt as 21 to 27 Wessex Lane. (A third cottage to the north is now 19 Wessex Lane, known as The Station House - see MSH2595.)

Full description
SOU 969 (watching brief in 1999):
[1]: West of Wessex Lane, demolition layers and early modern features were revealed, associated with two railway cottages built c1882 (when Swaythling Railway Station was built to the south); these were demolished in the 1960s. A third railway cottage built at the same time is now 19 Wessex Lane, known as The Station House.
