Summary
The 1771 map shows a tower at roughly this location, although it is probably Arundel Tower (MSH12) that is intended. There are no other sources that suggest there was a tower here. If it existed, it was probably built in the late 13th century, between 1260 and 1291, along with the rest of the north town wall.

SCC HER 11/12/09: The 1771 map [1] shows a tower at approximately this location, although it is probably Arundel Tower that is intended and the cartographer was confused between Arundel Tower and the spur work to the west. There are no other sources suggesting a tower here, and it is notably not mentioned in the 1454 terrier (published in [2]) or shown on Speed’s map [3]. The possible tower is shown as No 43 on the annotated map accompanying the NMR record [4]. If it existed, it was probably built in the late 13th century, between 1260 and 1291, along with the rest of the north town wall.
