HER 28/5/10: Grounds of the Grange, Swaythling (see MSH2996 for full details). This was at the southwest corner of High Road (now Wide Lane), Wide Lane and Mansbridge Road. The house was demolished in 1973/74 to make way for a new road layout, and most of the site of the building now lies under the road and the roundabout. The house dates to the 15/16th centuries or earlier, with 16th/17th century alterations. The main elevations were rebuilt in the late 18th century. The 1869 map [1] shows the house and garden, and has been used to plot the garden in the GIS. The grounds may have been more extensive.
