Summary
Roman tile was found in early medieval deposits during excavations in Cuckoo Lane between 1966 and 1969 (SOU 163). No in situ Roman deposits were found on the site. The area has since been redeveloped and is now off Westgate Street.

Full description
[1] in [2]: Roman finds were found in 12th century (Period 1) deposits on this site. Roman tile fragments and "early brick" fragments were found in a ditch thought to have been backfilled in the late 12th century. Roman tile fragments were also found in one layer dated to about 1200. No in situ Roman deposits were identified.
