The Listed remains of the north side of the west gate of Lichfield Cathedral Close fortifications. The wall here is of ashlar construction and two storeys in height and represents one of the few remaining visible parts of the Close fortifications., which are recorded to have been completed in the early 14th century for Bishop Langton.

GATE: REMAINS OF WEST GATEWAY TO CLOSE, NOW INCORPORATED INTO C18 BUILDING. <1>
The Listed remains of the north side of the west gate of Lichfield Cathedral Close fortifications. The wall here is of ashlar construction and two storeys in height and represents one of the few remaining visible parts of the Close fortifications., which are recorded to have been completed in the early 14th century for Bishop Langton.
