<1> Supposed Roman road on line between Lound Hill Quarry and Lound Hill Plantation. Excavated by C. E. Whiting, who found traces of an "earlier" road underneath the17th and 18th century Lound Lane and Old Street. Excavated 1930 by C E Whiting and F Villey (Archive M520/7B - YAS)
18" below surface on line between Templeborough and Castleford. 18-20 ft wide built of cobble and limestone. Cambered but no kerb.
