Full Description
An evaluation indicated some medieval landuse in the vicinity of the Wharf, although the evidence suggests that no attempt was made to reclaim the area from the River Kennet during this period, and no evidence was found for Newbury Castle. Some medieval pottery appeared to have been redeposited in the post-medieval period from a nearby midden. <1> <2>. Some building rubble and tile was also recovered <1>.
