One of several peace camps created during opposition to Cruise missiles at the airbase in the 1980s

Full Description

Indigo Gate was the main camp on the north side of the base. The USAF in c1986 moved it several hundred metres further west, and it was then called Woad Gate. The campsite was on the road verge <3> and there do not seem to be any traces of it left <5>.

A grid reference for the location of the camp is included in other information collated in 2002 <6>.

The site was visited in 2003 by the Common Ground Research Group <2> and reported to have completely gone <7>.
