Full Description
The building behind 13-15 St Bartholomew's Hospital Almshouses is a Grade II listed, one storey building with red brick walls, a tiled roof and a stone plaque above the door <1><2><3>. It has been dated to c. 1839 by a date plaque <2>. It was built in the Gothick style fronting Newtown Road and formerly part of a range linked to The Litten <2><4>, which appears to have been replaced at some time between the Fourth and Fifth Edition OS maps of 1934-36 <5> and 1967 <6>, respectively. It was used by the Free School in the 18th and 19th centuries, and is now part of St Bartholomew's Hospital <2>.
