No. 26
House and shops. Probably one building in spite of straight joint towards W. of front. Mid-late C.18 front of 3 storeys, variegated brick, with moulded and dentilled brick cornice below parapet. In 1st floor are six sash windows in flush frames and with a continuous moulded string above them.
Interior:- 1st floor front room of No. 24 has some reused C.17 panelling.

Full Description
Nos 24 and 26 The Broadway in Speenhamland are separately listed at Grade II <1> though were considered previously to probably form one building in spite of a straight joint in their frontage <5>. They formerly were part of The Bear inn.
The buildings of No 26 The Broadway, along with those at No 24 Broadway and 4 Oxford Street, were recorded and assessed in 2004-05 <2><3> in connection with the redevelopment of the site.
West Berkshire Museum has a photograph showing the frontage in the 1960s <4> and archaeologist OGS Crawford took photographs of the street in the winter of 1943, for the National Buildings Record <6>.
