Full Description

The Day Centre was built by the Borough Architects' department in 1965-7 on the site of former almshouses destroyed by a bomb in 1943 <1>; however it is not shown on the Fifth Epoch OS map of 1967 <2>. West Berkshire Museum has photographs showing the newly constructed day centre <3>, which was officially opened on 27 November 1967 by the Queen Mother <4>.
