Full Description

ACCORDING TO DOMESDAY, DE HESDIN HELD THE MANOR OF ULVRITONE (A LOST MANOR WHICH MAY BE IN THE VICINITY OF THE PRESENT TOWN). VALUED AT £9 IN 1086, BY 1086 IT WAS WORTH £24, AND 51 HAGAE WERE MENTIONED. THE INCREASE IN VALUE OVER 20YRS AND THE NO. OF HOUSES SUGGEST THE EMERGENCE OF "NEWBURY".

Ulvritone is not mentioned again after 1086.
