Summary

Newbury or "new market town" was first mentioned in a grant of c1080. An account of 1204 records a market. By 1458 a guild of St George owned stalls in the market.

Full Description

Newbury market is recorded in a reference from around 1204 <1>; a charter for the Bartholomew fair was granted in 1215 <1> <3>.
