Summary
A wide street with tenements on either side running down to common pasture. Possibly a later extension of the early y-plan. Probably the main cloth-working area of the town; the backs of some plots had out-buildings and a 1768 plan shows an open stream running down the centre of the street.

West Berkshire Museum has a pair of photographs showing Northbrook Street in the mid 20th century; a photograph of around 1890; and other photographs from various dates in the 20th century <5>.
