Full Description

Kimbers Almshouses were built in 1795 and were sited on Cheap Street, Newbury. They were demolished in 1952 <1-3>. The name continued to be used for another set of almshouses in Kennet Road. A collection of photographs in West Berkshire Museum shows the almshouses being demolished <14>. Another photograph shows the frontage around 1905 <15>.

Betjeman suggested that the same architect was responsible for these almshouses and No 1 Northbrook Street, Newbury <12>.
