Full Description

'PETEORDE' RECORDED IN DOMESDAY. LATER VARIANTS OF THE NAME INCLUDE 'PEDEWRTHA' (1160), 'PEDWRTH' (1162), POWRD (1212), 'PATHEWORTH' (1349). Gelling interprets it as meanding Peada's enclosure.
