Full Description
This stretch of the London to Bath Road, later numbered as the A4, runs westwards from Theale to Newbury. Several contemporary functional features survive alongside the road, including pumps for keeping down the dust near Thatcham. Milestones are marked with the distances in miles from London, from 44 in Theale to 56 in Newbury.
