Rectangular tower, part of the city walls, built in the early 14th century, restored in the 1830s. It was added to the city walls and has suffered from subsidence.

Full description

Stabilised in mid 1980s by City Council. A hollow concrete box was inserted inside the tower to act as an anchor to the walls. This disurbed some of the medieval fabric but left the earth rampart alone.
7 periods of building have been identified. The stone wall was built c.1250-1267 c.1.4m wide. The tower was added later. (INTERIM 10/3).
