Hepple pillbox (Hepple; Harbottle)
Pillbox. 1940. Concrete. Elongated hexagonal plan. Flat roof. single storey, partly below ground level. Elongated front has 3 rifle embrasures with a single machine gun embrasure to each chamfered side front. Rear front has 2 rifle embrasures and a protected door. This pillbox was constructed as part of the Coquet Line of defence against German invasion during the Second World War. Wills gazetteer gives ngr as ny 973999. (1-5)
