Summary: | Due to unusual location of shipyard some distance from Bideford Estuary, the ships were built up to deck height only. The vessel was then passed under Bideford Bridge and taken to the quayside at the bottom of Bridgeland Street (SS42NE/7) where the masts were put in.
Ships were built at sea lock at intermittent intervals between 1827-1870. |
