Summary: | Rothern Bridge.
A 4-arched stone road bridge. Earliest surviving fabric is probably early 15c. Original elements comprise narrow arches rising sharply from piers to a slight point. Road would have been 2.75m to 3m wide. Widened in early 19c, increasing road width to 4.7m. Parapet denoting edge of roadway is 0.75m high, 0.4m wide and is of rubble with dressed stone coping.
Modern road surface excluded from scheduling, although ground beneath is included. |
