Summary: | Babeny Farm, one of the "ancient tenements" on central Dartmoor, first recorded in 1260. Extensive project carried out to renovate certain hedgebanks of earth and stone believed to preserve original medieval field pattern, which may have been imposed on enclosed prehistoric landscape. The National Park Authority will, in future, renovate and maintain hedges the farmer wished to remove, in order to preserve the visible evidence of an essentially medieval landscape. |
