Summary: | Two parallel walls (551 + 552) revealed during drainage works in 1993 are interpreted as representing the foundations of the medieval W end of the nave, which is thought to have extended a further 10m W of present building. The nave was probably shortened shortly after dissolution. Walls 507 + 508, to N of church, probably represent remains of N wall of N transept and S end of E claustral range respectively. |
