Title:
Originator:Worth, R. N.
Date:
Summary:Vis=-/-/1894(worth, r. N. ) earthbanks on the side of the hill below okehampton camp are more likely to have been the walls of an enclosure for sheep and cattle than a roman camp as conjectured. Rectangular plan. Earthwork is possibly modern. Marked on courtenay map of 1780 (greeves). The northern defences of the hillfort (sx69sw/13) have been enclosed by a bank and ditch of medieval origins. No surface indications of ridge and furrow, though east side of enclosure is a lynchet over 1.5m deep (austin et al) (identification of austin description with above not certain - dmg).
