Summary: | An archaeological assessment by Exeter Museums Archaeological Field Unit of the route of a proposed water main covering 2km on the outskirts of Torquay from Gallows Gate Reservoir to Barton. The report is based on documentary sources and rapid field survey and identifies five areas of archaeological interest, mostly medieval settlements, boundary features and field systems, as well as a Bronze Age spearhead. EMAFU recommend an archaeological watching brief along the route of the pipeline during construction. |
