Summary: | Milestone on south east side of the old A38, about 40m north east of Saddlecombe (formerly Holbrook) farm gate. Milestone. Early or mid 19C. Stone, (a hard stone, probably not granite or limestone). Oblong-section stone with rounded top, the latter slightly chamfered on the front edge; both top and sides have horizontal tooling. Inscription carved on front face, badly chipped in 1984, reads: 'From (A)sh(bu)rton IV Miles'. |
