Lime kiln. Built for Lord Rolle, c. 1823-4. Coursed and roughly dressed slatestone rubble. Kiln has brick semi-circular arches over openings and earth ramp to first-floor level. One of a group of lime kilns built along the river Torridge, part of a project financed by Lord Rolle: the limestone was brought from the Gower Peninsula and Caldy Island for use on local farms. |
