| Summary: | An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Exeter Archaeology in 2005 prior to development of the site to the southeast of Willow Tree Road in Rumsam. A 1m section of 0.3m wide stone wall was exposed in the northwest corner of the site with the remains of a surface 2.75m x 0.75m on the northern side. An L-shaped building is shown at the site on the 1844 Bishops Tawton Tithe Map & a smaller structure is shown on the OS 1st edition (1890) map. Artefacts recovered included pot, glass & clay pipe fragments dating to the 18C or 19C. |
