Title:Totnes to Brixham (Unclassified) via Galmpton
Originator:Jenkinson, T.
Date:2005
Summary:Milestone situated at Lembury about 20m south east of turning to Stoke Gabriel. In hedge bank on east side of road. Legend reads '3 Miles From Totnes'. Worn and dirty. Some chips to edges. An unusual road to find milestones along. The immediate assumption would be that they were placed by the Totnes and Berry Pomeroy Turnpike Trust sometime after its inception in 1762. However, there is a reference to a route between Ipplepen and Galmpton that was managed by the Newton Bushel Turnpike. All the stones show distances to Totnes and are now rather worn and difficult to espy.
