Summary: | Two decorative motifs appear in the fan vaulting and external buttresses of the Lane chapel both of which reflect the interests of the merchant John Lane who died in 1529 with the traffic of manufactured woollens. The first depicts a winged angel holding a pair of cloth shears, and the second, an angel holding a geometrical device (probably a cloth mark) and a teasel frame. Carved ships can also be seen. |
