Originator: | Wessex Archaeology |

Date: | 2007 |

Summary: | Changes into tidal flow of the river caused by the construction of a new bridge over the Taw have led to part of a sandbank being scoured away revealing a large quantity of 17th century pottery that was buried beneath the sand. Wessex Archaeology and local volunteers have surveyed the area to record the finds. Some of the pots found are shapes that have not been seen before, perhaps new styles that proved too difficult to make or that didn't catch on. |
