| Summary: | Watching brief undertaken during ground preparation for a new stable on Staddon Hill, to be built in the same location but at 90' to the site of demolished piggery. An area of rough cobbling was revealed and two sherds of post 17th/18th century pottery and a clay pipe stem recovered. It is possible that the cobbling represents a surface to a southern entrance. If so, the low linear east-west bank observed at this point may be the remains of a defensive structure. |
