| Summary: | Site of a 6th century celtic chapel dedicated to St. Wardrede. Recorded as a Chapel of Ease in 1416 and as the Chapel of St. Wardred at Legh in 1439. In 1716 the cottage is recorded in a manorial document as 'The Chapel in the occupation of Nathaniel Sanders'. Recent excavation exposed an ancient well and a Celtic headstone has also been discovered. |
