Summary: | Appraisal of Blagdon Manor which was converted into a hotel in the late 20th century. The building is located on the site of a medieval manor and has a relatively well-documented history. Structurally the building is still relatively complete, representing the survival of a relatively high status courtyard house of 17th century date with later additions. Despite its conversion to a hotel it still retains the feeling and layout of a private house. The main reception areas have been retained and several features of historic interest survive such as the stair and fireplaces. Conversion of the building back to a private residence should have minimal impact on the surviving historic fabric. |
