Title: | Geophysical Survey at Membury Court, Membury, East Devon |
---|
Originator: | Smart, C. |
---|
Date: | 2010 |
---|
Summary: | Magnetometer survey of two fields to the north of Membury Court revealed significant multi-period remains. It is suggested that the features revealed include at least three rectilinear enclosures, a sub-rectangular double-ditched enclosure and a possible rectangular building. This is believed to be the site of the Roman 'villa' excavated in the early 20th century. Relict elements of the historic landscape were also observed; the pattern of fields present today were once further subdivided. |
