Summary:An account is given of emergency survey and recording of tinworks in the Mardle valley on southeast Dartmoor in advance of flood management works. The catchment of the river, and its tributary Snowdon Brook, was investigated, with particular focus on the archaeological earthwork evidence of early tinworkings including streamworks, openworks, and pit works as well as aspects of the tinners’ management of the water resources.
