Title:Later Iron Age and Early Roman Settlement at Willand Road, Cullompton
Originator:Hood, A.
Date:2010
Summary:A programme of archaeological works on the site of a new medical centre revealed a number of features. The earliest activity on the site was represented by a pit containing Early Neolithic pottery and worked flint. Several penannular ditches probably represent a later Iron Age settlement. Evidence for Roman activity was found in the form of three agricultural enclosures. These were associated with 1st-2nd century material and may be contemporary with the military occupation of the Roman fort nearby. There was also a pit dated to the early-mid Saxon period.
