Summary: | Archaeological magnetometer survey undertaken in advance of a planning application for development. The results demonstrated that the area has been extensively farmed and divided in the past. Eight anomaly groups were defined as potentially related to archaeological deposits. Of these, Groups 1-3 represent known historic mapped features. Groups 5, 7 and 8 also possibly relate to land division as may Group 6, although this could be associated with ploughing. Group 4 represents an area of intense farming as verified by the RAF aerial photo. |
