| Summary: | Two ring ditches were excavated prior to mineral extraction at Moorcroft Quarry. Artefacts were few and no burial deposits were recorded. A little Neolithic pottery was recovered from the lower fills of the ditches raising the possibility that they are of Neolithic date, although with Bronze Age pottery from higher up the sequence a more conventional Early Bronze Age date is probably more likely. A single pit nearby is also Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. |
