| Summary: | This report presents the results of a heritage assessment and geophysical survey carried out on the site of a proposed machinery store and livestock shed on land adjacent to Lane End Cross, Halwill Junction.
A gradiometer survey of the field identified 3 groups of anomalies comprised of c.5 anomalies, across the survey area. These included: a probable historical boundary that was removed in the 20th century; a possible thermoremanent deposit or magnetic debris; and three possible ditch type features associated with drainage. Occasional ground disturbance, magnetic debris, and a large number of probable drainage features/land drains across the site were also evident in the survey data. The results indicate that the archaeological potential for the site is low. The impact of the proposed development is assessed as negligible adverse overall. |
