| Summary: | A report on 15 concretions recovered from a 17th century shipwreck in 199. The majority were formed around iron artefacts, mostly nails, but included a possible lock plate from a firearm. Voids caused by beans were also found. Five lead shot were identified and evidence for a further five to seven. The diameter of the shot suggested their use in a carbine, or as part of a grapeshot fired from a larger weapon. The corrosion products show anerobic conditions to have been present on the site. |
