| Summary: | There does not appear to have been a priory at Monkleigh. A document of 1544 refers to Monkleigh Manor which had belonged to Montacute Priory in Somerset. An early-mid 19th century house to the south of the churchyard called The Chantry probably references a medieval chantry attached to the parish church which was suppressed by Edward VI in the mid 16th century. |
