Summary: | Addition of New Record.Vis=4/12/1953 (os) water filled, with near vertical drystone revetments. Average dimensions 4.2m wide, 1.4m deep. No trace of east portion. A retaining bank around the outside of the three arms. No visible remains of a building within the moat. The site came into the ownership of the fitzwarrens about 1190, and by the giffords about 1500, and it is they who built the moat. A new house was built in the 16th century (see ss62sw/8) (tregelles and andrews). |
