Summary : Loggia in the gardens at Eaton Hall, constructed in 1880 to replace a Gothic garden temple of 1822. It comprises a Roman altar and two reconstructed Roman columns which were not found at this location.
More information : SJ 4152 6050. Altar - not in situ. found at "The Daniels", Great Boughton (SJ 46 NW 19) incorporated in a loggia, probably circa 1880 by Alfred Waterhouse, with two reconstructed Roman columns. It replaced a `Gothick' temple of 1822 designed by William Cole to house the altar (a-b). See ground photographs 92/H/2a of Altar and 92/H/3a and 92/H/4a of Columns. (1)
