Summary : The Roman road agger is visible as a mound with a maximum height of 0.5m between flanking ditches, which may be later in date. There are other parallel ditches visible on air photographs and the date of these is uncertain, but they could be marking out the alignment of the Roman road. Another substantial ditch cuts into the agger of the road and therefore presumably post dates it, but its date and function are uncertain. Post medieval ridge and furrow lies adjacent to the road (see NY 66 NE 350, UID 1393231) and a leat cuts across it (NY 66 NE 351, UID 1393243). |
