More information : Traces of a field system, in the form of negative lynchets, were observed during Keiller & Piggott's excavations along the course of the West Kennett Avenue (SU 16 NW 101) in 1934. Associated potsherds, additionally described as Iron Age or Roman, were suggested by Isobel Smith to be of Medieval date.(1-3)
Three parallel curving ditches, referred to in authorities 1-3, with a NE-SW alignment were seen centred at SU 1051 6927. All measure approximately 150m in length and lie 20m apart. (4) |
