More information : The Stable Court Riding School, Calke Abbey: A
two-storeyed red-brick stable quadrangle with stone dressings,
built in 1712-16. It is 13 bays wide with the 3 central bays
projecting under a pediment with a segmental coach arch. The 5
bay wings have bolection moulding round the central doorways and
quoins at all angles. Above the pediment is an octagonal cupola
with an onion dome. The riding school adjoins at a north west
angle and is probably late 18th century. It has an open timber
roof of tie beam construction. Grade 2*. (Not described on any OS
plans but appears to be the building situated at SK 367226). (1-2)
