Summary : A square enclosure is visible as cropmarks on air photographs. It is attached to a ditch, which forms part of a larger field system to the north. The date of this field system and enclosure is possibly Iron Age or Roman. Within the area of the field system is a roundhouse, which may be contemporary. The field system appears to pre-date Roman road RR729 (LIN 562) to the north. Another area of field system to the east is of similar form and is probably part of the same field system (see SE 44 SE 50), which also appears to pre-date Rudgate Roman road RR280 (LIN 247). |
More information : SE 450418 Bramham. A prominent square cropmark was visible on aerial reconnaissance. (1)
